The founding Principal

The former British Military Hospital

Island School’s first campus on Borrett Road

First day at school

Island School opened its doors to 237 students on 19 September 1967

Island School’s uniform

The school’s uniform included: short sleeved shirts, khaki shorts, white socks, brown sandals and a burgundy tie or a short cotton dress

Island School is established

The original 20 Borrett Road campus is completed, 1973

Staff and students moved across the road to the newly built 20 Borrett Road campus

Summer of 1973

No movers were hired and students carrying all the equipment, desks and chairs themselves
