Our annual event for Nansen and Fleming House families, the Fleming and Nansen Evening, was a resounding success for its second year. The Blue and Red came together for an evening of celebration and House recognition on Thursday, May 8th 2025, to acknowledge House successes in our community.
Guests were warmly welcomed to the campus by House leaders hosting these stalls, which included stickers, hairspray, glow sticks and mascots and more. A special thank you to all students who took the time to bake and donate refreshments for the audience members via the "No Sale Bake Sale." The activities and House spirit of students on the day definitely fostered an atmosphere of togetherness.
The high-quality quality passion-filled performances showcased the musical talents of some performers for whom it was the first time in their IS careers in which they had taken to the stage. We enjoyed a variety of acts, including dance groups, original songs, duet singers, violinists, and cellists, along with a standout joint House act from the talented Anna Lyons 12F and Horace Yip 12N. Thank you to Isabel Gregory and Lok Yi Ko 11N for taking a break from studying for their year 11 iGCSE exams to perform their duet ‘Stay’ by Rihanna.
The event truly brought the two Houses together and the success of this event is a testament to the dedication and hard work of Y12 House leader teams from both Fleming and Nansen. A round of applause for Fleming and Nansen House Leaders in attendance on the day as well as those helping to play and coordinate the event behind the scenes Karissa Pang, Sam Meerovitsch, Annabel Suen, Aadya Mehra from 12F as well as Amy Rahman, Russell Wang, Victoria Faerm and Aidan Lo from 12N. 12N was further supported by our wonderful entertainment leads and hosts on the night, Horace Yip and Eva Bracovic. We appreciate their tireless efforts in stage running, hosting and organising this event and we wish them all the best with their Year 12 practice exams later this month. Great job!
We also want to thank the IS site team, the student tech team, and our tutors for supporting us before and during the show. A big thank you goes to Mr. McCracken for his direction on the day and to our Heads of House, Mr. Atkinson and Ms. Newby, for their invaluable support in making this event a reality.
The Fleming and Nansen Evening has established a new benchmark for collaboration and celebration between houses. It will be remembered as a powerful illustration of how our community can unite to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals and groups through our inter-house contributions. This event has certainly inspired us to seek new ways to promote unity and friendship between our houses in the future.
Congratulations to all students who participated, contributed, and attended this outstanding event. Your engagement and enthusiasm have forged lasting memories for the Nansen and Fleming House communities. We look forward to building on this success.
Ms Newby, Head of Nansen House and Mr Atkinson, Head of Fleming House.
