HKU Speakers Visit WW2 History Elements Course

The WW2 History Elements course had a fantastic opportunity to welcome HKU university students and Dr. Michael Rivera, who introduced the fascinating field of Bioarchaeology. This interdisciplinary subject combines archaeology and biology, allowing students to explore the health and diseases of past populations.

During the visit, students analysed various sources related to World War II, identifying common diseases that affected individuals during this tumultuous period. This hands-on experience not only enriched their understanding of historical context but also demonstrated how scientific methods can illuminate our knowledge of the past.

The session was an excellent opportunity for students to connect their studies in the Elements course with real-world applications in Bioarchaeology. We are grateful to Dr. Rivera and the university students for sharing their expertise and inspiring our young historians!
