Welcome to ISPTA
Dear Parents,
A warm welcome from the Island School Parent Teacher Association (ISPTA). The strength of Island School is its close-knit community and ISPTA strives to build a warm, welcoming and supportive environment for parents. We contribute to the Island School community by supporting initiatives that enhance the overall learning experience for our children.
Your membership supports the Island School community
All families automatically become ISPTA members when they join Island School, and your annual membership fee allows us to support the school in enhancing the learning experience for students. Please note that the payment of the annual PTA membership fee of $200 per family is mandatory as per ESF Ordinance and Regulations and is payable via the school’s e-payment system, with the invoice issued at the start of the academic year in September. From the membership fee, ISPTA sponsors initiatives, activities and resources for the students and the school community. We organise and support various school events, information sessions and get-togethers for parents. For more details on our events and contributions, please see ISPTA News.
How We Support the Community
In addition to community-building, ISPTA supports student-led projects and initiatives. Our major funding projects in the last two years since our return to the newly built Borrett Road campus have included; sound speakers for the inner courtyard, enhancement of the community garden space, a composter machine to promote sustainability and a whole school trip to Ocean Park as a wellbeing initiative. These projects are supported by the ISPTA membership fees of $200 per family and fundraising events during the year.
ISPTA continues to be one of the key donors of Island School Trust’s Nicola & Kenneth (N&K) bursaries that honour the memory of two Island School students. The bursaries fund financially disadvantaged secondary students in Hong Kong who are driven and committed towards their education. Since the start of 2019, ISPTA has supported fundraising for N&K through the Winter Fair silent auction and/or market sales.
ISPTA continues to promote sustainability in Island School with the ISPTA Secondhand Shop collecting and recycling, gently-used school uniforms, textbooks and calculators within the school community. Please use the Secondhand Order Form to purchase Secondhand Readers & Secondhand Uniforms. You can also find school-related items on our Buy, Sell and Swap Facebook group. All funds raised from the sale of secondhand items go towards student-led initiatives and events.
We look forward to your support to the ISPTA with active participation and engagement. Please do read the school newsletter to keep up-to-date with our events and follow us on Instagram and Facebook. If you have any questions, please contact us at pta@online.island.edu.hk.
Warm regards,
ISPTA Committee
