Over the summer, a group of Year 13 students: Shafay Khan (13W), Dev Goyani (13R), Vijay Narayanan (13F), Teddy Liu (13W), and Aden Honig (13W) participated in the New Wave Logistics Competition, organised by the Hong Kong Association for Freight Forwarding and Logistics and supported by the Department of Transportation.

The team participated in the Smart City Logistics category, where participants were challenged to utilise modern coding toolkits and AI mechanisms to create intelligent and efficient urban logistics solutions. During their research phase, the team noticed that small and medium logistics firms in Hong Kong were unable to compete with larger players due to inefficiency in the last-stage delivery process, which deterred new players from entering the market and contributed to Hong Kong’s already-high levels of congestion and vehicle pollution.

Thus, the team created DragonLink—an AI-powered app that utilised the traveling salesman problem to create the optimal delivery route for companies that they could deploy easily. DragonLink was presented at the competition to various members from the Department of Transportation, acclaimed professors in urban design, engineers from City University, and members of the general public. At the end of the competition, the team won Gold, out of 240 participants in total.
