On March 8, a team of IS and SC students attended the China National Final of the CTB Global Youth Research and Innovation Conference in Shanghai and won Second Prize.
Founded at Harvard University, this competition is one of the world’s most prestigious platforms for high school innovators, where students develop research-driven solutions to pressing global challenges such as climate action, social equity, and technology ethics.
An all-ESF six-member team, known as “Team Lumen,” has come together to compete in this challenge. The team comprises one student from ESF Island School and five students from Shatin College. Henry Zhang (10DT) represented IS.
Guided by a strong sense of humanistic concern, Team Lumen focused their research on the employment challenges faced by visually impaired individuals in Hong Kong, a topic that received high praise and strong recognition from the judging committee.
Henry reflected, “I’m thrilled that our team's hard work on such an important social issue was recognized at the national finals. Collaborating with my peers from across ESF to turn our ideas into meaningful research was the most rewarding part of this journey. We will continue to work on this project and strive for the best!”
