On May 13th, Year 8 students were off-timetable for an immersive STEM Day focused on a critical local challenge: safeguarding Hong Kong against super typhoons and severe rainstorms. Working in their House groups, students tackled five diverse challenges that pushed their technical and analytical limits. They engineered devices to transport water, evaluated the effectiveness of desiccants on electronics, designed AI models for flood mitigation, and conducted specialist lab work to investigate water-borne bacteria. Integrated math challenges throughout the day kept the competitive spirit high, and the students demonstrated a high level of collaboration and creativity. This was a House competition, and the winners were announced in this week's celebration assembly.
