On Wednesday May 27th, all of our Year 9 students were involved in an exciting STEM Day. Groups were tasked with building a remote-controlled robot to carry out liver surgery, beginning with initial design ideas for making a surgical incision. Challenges built up throughout the day from simply popping a balloon to eventually trying to remove a piece of diseased tissue from their liver sample, alongside short quizzes testing their maths and biology skills.
A huge congratulations to the overall highest-scoring team from Nansen House—Adele Chan, Daana Raman, Chloe Pan, Jamie Fong, Cleo Yeung, and Sophie Liu—who earned an impressive 45/50 points.
Top scoring students in each House team were:
Da Vinci (D1 - 44/50) - Nihara Aniruddh, Charlotte Yim, Alice Deleu, Ira Nair, Ezhil Sudalai Rajakumar
Einstein (Liver and Onions - 43/50) - Isaac Chan, Alex Jiang, Enoch Chau. Long Long Wong, Travis Benneett.
Fleming (F2 - 43/50) - Clarice Wu, Emma Woo, Maddie Small, Anna Lau, Melody Yan, Raeanne Cheung.
