This week, we held the second Alliance Breakfast of the year, marking Nina Gunson's first as principal. We were honored to welcome notable guests, including ESF’s CEO Belinda Greer, School Council members Alec Tong, Philip Ting, Fatema Jangbarwala, founding patron Anita Gidumal, and Sprouts Foundation CEO Mark Shuper.
We were also joined by alumni members Michael Lok (Barrister), Raphael Hui (Solicitor), Howard Chan (Educator), Aayush Batwara (EdTech and AI Specialist), along with some parents.
This special occasion celebrated our continued partnership with the Sha Tin Community. For seven years, Island School's Little Sprouts and Community English programmes have provided engaging opportunities for local students aged 6 to 13 to practice their spoken English.
Students Joy Au [10RR], Sin Ying Cheung [10RR], and Karin Li [10NH] shared their experiences with Little Sprouts, discussing how they encouraged younger local students (ages 6-12) to speak English.
Students Hayley Chan [11D], Jaeyun Ha [12E], and Hailey Tong [11D] elaborated on the Community English Programme, where they primarily worked with secondary students aged 11-13 from Ng Yuk Secondary School.
A special thank you to Ms. Teri Eves for her outstanding leadership of the Community English programme over the past seven years.
Stay tuned for more photos soon.
