
At the 10th annual ESF Spanish Speech Festival held at West Island School on June 23, Island School was named the winner, finishing ahead of KGV and West Island School, which took second and third place respectively.
The competition requires students to perform poems and short plays with accurate Spanish pronunciation and intonation, along with an entertaining delivery. A special mention to the Island School students who won their categories: Sophiya Omar (10RF), Ningyi Liu (10ES), Kacey Tsang (9RW), Narkeasha Lay (9WL) and Hillary Tsang (8DL). These other students performed very well, all getting good results in their categories: Mara Lang (12N), Aurora Tripodi (12W), Sophie Low (12R), Bethany Ho (12W), Sophia Jeong (12R) and Eitan Ozer (9RL).
In addition, the following students provided musical entertainment between the recital competitions: Madan Chhetri (12E), Chloe Flatt (10NF) and the band of Cyrus Jia (12W), Rahul Chakravarti (12E), Samuel Pitkevich (12N), Trevor Yeh (12W) and Zac Tan (11EW).
Island School looks forward to hosting next year's festival.
