
Despite Thursday’s Black Rainstorm on June 18th, the Girls Rising team were incredibly grateful for the wonderful turnout and energy at this year's Inspiring Women of Hong Kong Speaking Event.
Our speakers; Maitreyi Karanth, Alicia Lui, Christina Ho and Jane Houng, shared empowering insights on such diverse topics as stand up comedy and career change; girls in sport and women's health; aviation and following your dream to becoming a pilot; and turning personal tragedy into a campaign for safety from gender-based violence.
This year's event also marked the beginning of a new tradition: distributing Becky Buttons to our Year 12 forms. As they prepare to leave for university, these tiny wearable alarms serve as an easy and practical step to help with personal safety.
