As part of our Year 10 Thrive programme, students are learning practical coping strategies to support their mental wellbeing. Students also explored the idea that stress isn’t always negative, and how we can respond to it in healthy ways to build resilience.
To better understand the impact of stress on our Year 10 students, a short survey was conducted. The most common responses were discussed in a fun, interactive session where teachers and students worked together to explore these experiences further.
On September 3, our school counsellor, Karinda, shared strategies to recognise the signs of stress and emphasised that everyone copes differently. The session was highly informative and helped students understand how significantly stress can affect them—especially around exams and academic results. A key message was the importance of talking to someone and taking time to recharge.
Feedback from the survey was encouraging, showing that many students already cope in positive ways, including playing sport, spending time with friends, reading, and listening to music.
