ISPTA Parent Representatives organised social across year groups. These gatherings provided an opportunity for parents to mingle and build connections.
In the first term, Year 12 parents met at Wellwell cafe at Admiralty for drinks. It was a lovely get-together organised by our Year 12 Parent Representatives. From universities, to uniforms, school routines, exams and being IB parents it was a chance to discuss various topics. It was also lovely to meet some of the new families in Year 12 who are new to Island School. We look forward to these bonds as we go into Year 13 and support each other.
What an amazing turnout on 16 March at Oolaa for our casual Year 7 Parents’ Social ! Thank you to everyone who joined - we loved the connections made, ideas exchanged on parenting and school life, and the warm sense of community over Happy Hour drinks and delicious pizzas.
A huge shoutout to all the parents supporting each other in our ISPTA Year 7 WhatsApp group - it’s heartwarming to see our community thriving. Here’s to more gatherings ahead!
The Year 9 Parents’ Social was a very enjoyable and successful event, jointly organised by Year 9 Parent Rrepresentatives. We were delighted that attendance grew to 17 parents, and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the chance to connect socially outside school.
Special thanks to Alex from 1968 Indonesia - a Year 9 parent who generously provided complimentary snacks and buy one-get one free drinks, despite not being able to attend himself. We’re very grateful to all the Year 9 parents who came and made the evening such a lovely one.
After the Year 11 dinner dance reception, it was finally time for the Year 11 Parents’ Social.
ISPTA hosted a warm gathering at the Kowloon Shangri-La, Tapas Bar creating a space for parents of soon-to-be iGCSE graduates to relax and connect. It was an evening without agendas or formalities—just genuine conversation and heartfelt understanding—a precious moment for us, the "companions" of our children on this journey.
✨ A Different Atmosphere
There were no anxious discussions about grades here, only heartfelt reflections on the journey of growth. We talked about how our children moved from dependence to independence, how they handled exam pressures, and how we, as parents, learned to balance "support" with "letting go." In the end, this preparation wasn't just for the children—it was also our journey of learning to trust.
