Diwali is one of the many cultural celebrations embraced by Island School, reflecting the true spirit of the Festival of Lights through joy, togetherness, and community spirit.
The celebrations began with the campus being transformed by colourful festive decorations. Traditional garlands adorned the walls and staircases, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere throughout the school.
What a wonderful day filled with delicious food, laughter, music, and dancing!
On 27 October, during snack time, the ISPTA and parent volunteers hosted a special Diwali snack sale for students and teachers. Samosas served with chutney were, as always, a huge favourite, alongside crispy chaklis and traditional Indian sweets such as kaju katli. We extend our sincere thanks to our parents Gowri, Gunjan, Jessicam Rahual and Zarrah for generously contributing the snacks, and to our parent volunteers Gowri, Pia, Zainab and Zarrah for organizing and running the event. Students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the delicious treats and the opportunity to experience a taste of India.
In the afternoon, Island School came alive with the sights and sounds of Bollywood dancing. Led by our parent volunteers and enthusiastically joined by students and teachers, the celebrations brought the entire campus together. Parents added great spirit to the event with their colourful outfits and upbeat dance routines, which quickly had everyone clapping along. The whole campus felt alive as parents, students and staff celebrated Diwali together.
A special thank you to our dance crew leader, Sunny, and to Angel, Anne, Arnaud, Ekta, Karina, Neha, Pooja B, Pooja D, and Shahzore for sharing their enthusiasm, dance moves, and cultural spirit. Your incredible performances brought the energy and joy of Diwali to Island School and made the celebration truly memorable.
