On the Fridays of September 19 and 26, our Year 7 students embarked on an enriching Humanities Field Trip, exploring the streets of Happy Valley and Wan Chai. This guided tour offered a unique glimpse into five diverse places of worship, providing insights and experiences that will deepen their understanding of beliefs about creation for their current unit of study.
The guided tour led students through five significant places of worship in the area, offering invaluable insights and firsthand experiences. Students had a chance to tour the following:
- St. Margaret Church: Observe the beautiful architecture and learn about the Christian traditions and their beliefs about creation.
- Pak Tai, Tam Kung & Tin Hau Temples, Wong Nai Chung: Discover the unique cultural elements and the role of these temples in the local community, engaging with the symbolism and narratives related to traditional Chinese beliefs.
- The Hindu Temple: Experience a moment of quiet reflection and understand the community's practices and their diverse beliefs about creation.
- Khalsa Diwan Sikh Temple: Gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity of spiritual practices and learn about the Sikh faith.
- Masjid Ammar and Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Centre: Engage with the symbolism and narratives related to creation beliefs within the Islamic faith.
These firsthand encounters sparked lively discussions and provided a tangible connection to the theoretical concepts being explored in the classroom. Students were particularly struck by the peaceful atmosphere within each sacred space and the welcoming nature of the communities they encountered.

These experiences will undoubtedly foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse beliefs as our students continue their academic journey.
