On January 20th, we were thrilled to celebrate the resounding success of the Year 11 Social Action Exhibition. Since the start of this academic year, students have been immersed in group social action projects as part of their Global Perspectives IGCSE. This initiative, held under our Explorations programme, focuses on developing core competencies essential to future success in higher education and the modern workforce. By tackling key global issues firsthand, our students are truly evolving into informed global citizens.
A Wide Range of Vital Issues
The quality and depth of the advocacy posters on display were remarkable. Students engaged with a diverse and challenging range of issues affecting both our local and global communities:
- Poverty and Inequality: Exploring food poverty and the complexities of homelessness.
- Education Inequality: Focusing on support for underprivileged students, ethnic minorities, and breaking down language barriers.
- Environmental Issues in Hong Kong: Addressing urgent concerns such as plastic and water pollution, textile waste, and the critical loss of biodiversity.
- Social Inclusion and Health: Tackling sensitive topics including mental health stigma, elderly loneliness, and discrimination against people with disabilities and autism.

Mastery of Communication and Advocacy
We would like to extend a huge congratulations to the Year 11 cohort on the exceptional quality of their communication skills. Visitors were consistently impressed by:
- Powerful Advocacy Posters: The visual materials effectively articulated complex challenges and called for meaningful change.
- Engaging Visitors in Action: Students confidently articulated the steps they had taken in their projects, discussing their journeys and the "trials and tribulations" they navigated along the way.
- Inspiring Future Change-Makers: A highlight of the day was seeing our Year 11s present to Year 6 students from Beacon Hill and Glenaely Primary Schools. These younger students, who are preparing for their own PYP Exhibitions, gained invaluable inspiration from the dedication of our older students.
This exhibition provided a vital platform for students to reflect on the skills they have developed and how these competencies will support their future progress. The level of insight and passion on display was a testament to the hard work they have put in throughout the year.
