History Elements Students Hike Wong Nai Chung Gap Trail

This week, on 26th February, the WW2 Elements historians hiked the Wong Nai Chung Gap WW2 Trail, which documents key events and locations from the Battle of Hong Kong. Each student researched and presented on a different location to the class, providing a great opportunity to visit primary source relics, practice communication skills, and learn about this significant battle.

Hong Kong Young Physicists Tournament 2025

On Saturday 22nd February 2025, the Island School team took part in the 5th edition of the Hong Kong Young Physicists Tournament at West Island School. Having successfully passed the preliminary round in December, they were one of 14 teams from Hong Kong schools to have reached the final. They came up against some stiff competition including teams Po Leung Kuk, Victoria Shanghai Academy, Diocesan Boys School and the eventual winners in the Diocesan Girls School.

Mid Year Awards 2025

This week on 25 and 26 February 2025, Island School hosted its Mid Year Awards. There are Four Award categories: ·        Principal’s medals for outstanding academic achievement. ·        Islander awards for students who embody the school’s values. ·        Spirit awards for students who commit to service and co-curricular activities. ·        Strive awards for students who strive to be better than they were yesterday.

Year 12 Visual Arts Excursion

On Friday, 21st February, Year 12 Visual Arts students visited the "Guo Pei: Fashioning Imagination" exhibition at M+ and the "Cézanne and Renoir: Looking at the World" exhibition at HKMOA. The purpose of these visits was to facilitate connections to their current projects and strengthen their skills in comparative study.

Working in Sports Seminar

On February 19, we were thrilled to host Dr. Kim Jongwon, an alumnus of Middlesex University, for the "Working in Sports" session. Dr. Kim shared his experiences as a sports analyst in the Premier League, offering valuable insights for students interested in the sports industry. The students were eager to learn from him and even invited him to play football—something he would have loved to do if he hadn't had a flight to catch!
