The House System here at Island School is a way of creating a family spirit amongst our students - but also fostering cooperation and, yes, competition.
At the point in which a student joins us, they are allocated to a House - and they stay in that House throughout their entire time with us. At Island School, our Houses are: Da Vinci, Einstein, Fleming, Nansen, Rutherford and Wilberforce.
Experiential Learning
At Island School, we emphasise experiential learning as a key element of our educational approach. This method encourages students to engage directly with their environment, enhancing understanding through hands-on experiences. Our supportive framework fosters strong relationships and a sense of belonging, which are essential for personal and academic growth.

Student Leadership
While not every one of our students will want to be a leader - either in school or later in life, we recognise that leadership skills are important to all of us as we lead our lives. There are a variety of ways in which our young people can get involved, manage and lead either in the school or in the community.
