Congratulations to our students Kelly Chak and Sharon Sim for earning the perfect 45 score on their International Baccalaureate (IB) exams which places them amongst some of the highest-scoring IB students in the world.
At our end-of-year assembly, we celebrated our students' accomplishments in the arts, Chinese Reading, JA Innovation, and more! Congratulations to all award winners! The Island School Dance Team kicked off the event with an amazing performance, followed by Concord, who got everyone cheering. The grand finale was a powerful whole-school performance of APT.
We are proud of all our students this year. Enjoy your summer—rest and recharge for an even brighter year ahead!
See you in August!
On May 14, all of our Year 9 students participated in STEM Day! They were tasked with building a robot to perform liver surgery. The day kicked off with brainstorming design ideas as groups planned their robots for making surgical incisions. Students also put their math and biology skills to the test with fun quizzes. The challenges escalated from popping balloons to attempting to remove diseased tissue from liver samples! We hope this hands-on experience inspires some of our students to explore important STEM careers in the future!
Congratulations to Sophie (Year 11) and Rashida (Year 13) who had their artworks selected for the Sovereign Art prize. Their work was exhibited at Art Central over the weekend. A fantastic achievement!
Last week, on 28th February, our global politics class visited LegCo to deepen our understanding of Hong Kong's political landscape. Guided by a knowledgeable host, we learned about the selection of politicians, the functions of the council, and the complex processes involved in bill passing. This immersive experience provided valuable insights into the workings of the Hong Kong government, allowing us to apply concepts from the classroom to the world around us.
Two talented students from Island School have been shortlisted for the prestigious Hong Kong Students Sovereign Art Foundation Prize! Sophie Lee from Year 11 and Rashida Ebrahim from Year 13 have both had their artworks selected, which will be showcased at Art Central from March 26th to 30th. This is a fantastic achievement, and we encourage you to show your support by voting for their artworks below. Voting closes on March 29th. https://www.sovereignartfoundation.com/sp-hongkong/
On Friday, 21st February, Year 12 Visual Arts students visited the "Guo Pei: Fashioning Imagination" exhibition at M+ and the "Cézanne and Renoir: Looking at the World" exhibition at HKMOA. The purpose of these visits was to facilitate connections to their current projects and strengthen their skills in comparative study.
