Island School Visits Mother's Choice 

On the March 25th, the Social Action and Connected Communities committees visited Mother’s Choice to present them with a donation on behalf of the Nicola and Kenneth Bursaries.   During the visit, representatives of the committees were able to learn more about the history of Mother’s Choice and the value they see in collaborating with community members to make a difference in society.

Y12 Biology /ESS Sports Science Statistics Workshop

On Thursday 20th March Year 12 students were fortunate to attend a workshop on the statistical analysis of experimental data facilitated by Dr Sinead Sheridan of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The key tools that will allow for causation and correlation in IA data to be identified and discussed, supporting the key elements of data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, were highlighted with experiential learning taking place. The Science faculty is most grateful to Dr Sheridan for providing this invaluable guidance.

Shackleton VR Experience

On March 19, A group of students in Year 7 to 10 the Individuals and Societies and Science Faculties were fortunate to have the opportunity to experience an award winning Virtual Reality film about the Antarctic adventures of Ernest Shackleton. The film brought to Island School by Hong Kong Royal Geographical society, is set in 1914 as polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton led one of history’s greatest stories of leadership and survival: the ill-fated Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Shackleton failed in his attempt, but the events that transpired form one of history’s greatest stories of leadership and survival.

Bridge Program

The Bridge program wrapped up its series of industry visits with an enriching trip to K11 Musea on 17th March. Students had a fantastic opportunity to explore the history and architecture of K11 Musea, learning about the inspiring elements and materials used in its design. They gained insight into how engineers and architects navigate government and budget constraints to bring their creative visions to life. This experience ignited students' passions for majors and careers in art, design, architecture, and engineering.
